LiRiC Scientific project

Renamed LiRiC (Language, Inclusion, Remediation, Interculturality, and Communication), the Language and Communication Research Federation (FRLC) brings together researchers from the social and cognitive sciences, as well as from language, digital, education, information, and communication sciences. Its aim is to identify language and communication practices that may contribute to the social exclusion of certain individuals and/or groups —whether due to dominant sociolinguistic norms, disorders, or disabilities—and to develop inclusive and remedial solutions.

Thanks to the Federation’s projects, we have been able to assess the current state of exclusion experienced by individuals (such as patients, elderly people, or those with behavioural disorders) and/or communities (such as migrants, dialect speakers, or at-risk youth), understand the causes of these situations, and propose potential remedies. Over the next four years, our goal is to expand this research on a larger scale and to develop additional remedial methods and tools — such as digital resources, effective therapeutic and training approaches, evidence-based teaching strategies, innovative social practices, and policy recommendations in education and digital access — based on interdisciplinary analyses of inclusion-related issues.

To this end, we will intensify research, expertise, and training activities that combine linguistic, sociological, psychological, and communication-based approaches, focusing on the analysis of discourse and language practices. This will help refine our understanding of the mechanisms of exclusion, the conditions under which they arise, their underlying causes, and the possibilities for addressing them. It is a truly interdisciplinary challenge, with significant scientific and societal implications.
