Graduate Program LiRiC

Presentation of the Interdisciplinary Research-Based Training Program

ITI LiRIC offers a diploma supplement to M1 and M2 students in the humanities and social sciences, medicine, and computer science at the University of Strasbourg. Priority is given to students enrolled in one of ITI’s partner master’s programs. The program introduces students to interdisciplinarity and to the ITI’s research topics, with a focus on inclusion in health, education, and society.

Students enroll in their preferred master’s program while also having the opportunity to earn 30 credits over two years through courses offered by the ITI at their own pace. Courses, research seminars, summer and fall schools, and internships provide an interdisciplinary perspective and enable students to complement their disciplinary training with additional expertise in another field, in line with their professional and/or research goals.

All doctoral students in the Humanities and Social Sciences (519) and Humanities (520) doctoral schools may take LiRiC courses and validate them as part of their doctoral training. The corresponding training hours can be entered directly by students on the platform used to track their thesis file.

The objective is to enable students who have completed 30 ECTS credits (or a minimum of 15 ECTS credits for the 2025–2026 academic year) to apply for ITI funding to pursue an interdisciplinary thesis, defined as a project situated at the intersection of at least two LiRiC disciplines and aligned with the themes of inclusion and health, education, and society.

We offer:

  • Introductory courses in multidisciplinary methods of data analysis and collection (interdisciplinary perspectives), supplemented by an additional methodology course taken outside the student’s primary discipline (Bloc 1),
  • LiRiC-labeled courses to be validated in Bloc 2,
  • Interdisciplinary research seminars and summer/fall schools (research seminars and at least one school per year or semester; Bloc 3),
  • A minimum three-month internship enabling students to explore another discipline and earn 15 ECTS credits (in a laboratory or company; Bloc 4),
  • Targeted courses from partner master’s programs related to LiRiC themes (Bloc 5).

The program is open to all first- and second-year master’s students at the University of Strasbourg, with priority given to those enrolled in master’s programs associated with ITI LiRIC.

Assessment methods (MECC): all modules are validated based on satisfactory attendance; Block 1 is additionally assessed through a multiple-choice questionnaire testing knowledge acquisition.
